    I adore these shoes. I was worried the newer version wouldn’t be as good as my old pair, but I was pleasantly surprised. They are comfortable, durable, and true to size. I would definitely purchase them again.

    Update: I love these shoes! They fit my larger foot better due to the width across the foot. They are now my favorite shoes, but it took some effort to make them work. My feet are a perfect 8.5 regular, and I found the toe box to be quite narrow for a barefoot shoe. After adjusting the laces, I managed to make them work. I suggest Merrell consider widening the toe box by a few millimeters. I am looking forward to the Trail Glove 8 model where this issue is addressed.

    I typically wear size 10 for boots and 10.5 for sneakers. I ordered these in 10.5 but I should have gone for 11.5. The toe of the shoe is too close to my toes and the toe box is narrow, causing them to overlap. This is not typical of Merrel shoes.

    I am confused as to why Merrell labels these as barefoot shoes on their website. They have cushioning, arch support, and a narrow toebox, which is the opposite of what a barefoot shoe should be. The big toe guard presses uncomfortably on my toe due to the toe box not being tall enough.

    I received these shoes a little over a month ago and just noticed a split on the left shoe near the sole/upper joint. There is also a minor split starting on the right shoe. For a £70 pair of shoes from a reputed brand like Merrell, this is unacceptable. Although it’s past the return date, I believe these shoes should be replaced as they may be faulty.     I’m having some difficulty breaking these in. The over foot depth is lower than the Trail Glove 5’s, so my toenail hits the shoe’s roof. They are starting to feel better with wear-in. They resemble long flat clown shoes more than the Trail Glove 5’s, which were more “triangular” and comfier for me. They are good-looking and seem durable for long-term use.
