I have experience with singing bowls of this size, but when playing this particular bowl on the supplied cushion, it doesn’t resonate or amplify well. Encircling it with the rod while it’s sitting on the cushion produces weak to no sound! While I enjoy encircling the bowl without striking it first to create a crescendo tone, it’s fair to say that striking the bowl and then encircling it creates a lovely, slight crescendo tone that quickly fades once the encircling stops.

Getting the sound to resonate as desired while rotating the stick around the rim can be a bit challenging due to its small size. However, it produces a beautiful sound when tapped with the stick and has an attractive appearance.

Initially, I spun the wooden stick a few times and was disappointed by the low sound. After practicing a 45-degree angle spin over twenty times, a super loud sound surprised me. Holding it in my palm enhanced the effect. I believe the cushion is just for placing the metal bowl on top, likely for display purposes. I did not read the description.

I use this for vipassana meditations. I usually only ring it when I notice my mind has wandered from my breath, and I must bring it back. Of course, it is small. The bell works fine, and I have had this for a while now.
