This mat is fantastic. I have the smaller version, which is just as great but smaller. It offers excellent cushioning and stability, and is super sticky. It was a bit slippery in the first few classes when very wet from sweat, but that improved quickly. I love this mat – it’s comparable to the quality of jade fusion but at a more affordable price. I’ve tried manduka pro mats as well, but I prefer the hugger mugger para hands down. Great company. Don’t hesitate.

I just received the mat, so I can’t speak to its durability yet, but it appears well-built. Being extra long and wide and made of rubber, it’s heavier than PVC mats. I appreciate that it will decompose when disposed of, unlike plastic mats. Both sides are sticky, and it works well until my hands get very sweaty. After reading numerous reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of any unpleasant odor from the mat I received. While my hands did pick up a slight rubber smell after the first use, it was not a major issue. I purchased the extra large mat and, at five foot nine, found it to be a great size that never felt too short or narrow. I usually use a B-Mat yoga mat for hot yoga but decided to try the “Hugger Mugger Para Rubber” as the XL B-Mat was sold out. The Hugger Mugger mat is 78″ x 28″, shorter than the B-Mat, and I found myself slipping during practice and needing a towel for traction. The extra width didn’t make a difference. I prefer a mat that grips well, and I’m unsure about the quality of the rubber used in the Hugger Mugger mat, which is made in Taiwan. The extra cost for this mat is not worth it for me.
